NOW 1.24+ COMPATIBLE !
Here some my old system (or sample map)

to test simple type somthing in chat (press ENTER) and also use some smiles ;) have fun !

if some one like it i can update it !

wc3 already ahs a good chat system, but if yours has smileys then it'd be pretty cool.

I can't check it out so I can't see how it really works or looks like though.

Seems interesting. I would change the method slightly. Instead of splitting the multiboard into a bunch of different columns, make 1 main column and the rest of them 0 width on the side. When a player types a message that contains a smiley, split and text before the smiley onto 1 column, resize the next column to fit the smiley beside it, and then continue the text after the smiley (if there is) on another column (or the same column as text). This would remove the stupid formatting glitches.

The faces aren't small.

The real issue is that you can only have one multiboard and using the multiboard on chat pretty much is a waste of options, besides of that the system works, should be combined with the trick to hide player chat messages.

- well... i think it will be more compilcated in end effect.
":P" - can be simple added... btw yet == :tongue: try it.

- yes it's true but it is a old version (spring 2006) so i will update it if will push the performance on top ! + support for multi multiboards =) and something else...

I Liked it...
I'm gonna try a GUI equivalent for my own map but with out smilies, word filters ect...
It would be good for removing commands from general chat...
Would +rep if it wasn’t my 1st post here...
If I do use the GUI one I will give credit 4 da original idea...

I have updated the chat system so now it must be MUCH better !
add color tags like ^0 (0-9) smiles a not case sensitive.
and parsed string now stored separat. so you can use them any time in different places !
