Is there any way to swap one unit for another within the WE? I want to replace a unit on the map (map position being kept exactly the same) without having to re-edit the triggers associated with that unit.
I want to do this within the WE. I don't want to do it as a trigger once the map starts. Last edited by Vespertine : 04-10-2013 at 10:07 PM. |

I don't think it can be done. You'd need to delete the old preplaced unit (remember its exact coordinates beforehand if that is important) and then place the new one in its place. Then, you'd need to go through all the triggers where you referred to the old preplaced unit and refer to the new one instead (or use a variable this time, just in case you ever need to change it again).

I mean, aside from (trigger) adding the ability Chaos, which will "replace" that unit with another entire unit (think the Fel Orcs replacing your normal Orcs from the RoC Campaign). Is that what you mean?

Yeah, I suppose you could hack it by adding a Chaos-based ability to your unit to immediately morph it to a different unit type when the map starts (not sure if you need a trigger to add it or if you can just add it in the object editor). I was wrong, there is a way after all. :)

I think you can give the unit Chaos in the World/Object Editor and not have it activated at the beginning, much like the Siege Engine (in TFT, upgrading the Siege Engine with Barrage physically transforms every new SE (and retroactively, each one you own on the map) into a SE with an attached rocket array.
