![]() A minimal wav file that can be used to squelch some annoying default wc3 sounds.
Made it with hex editor after reading wav specs here. To squelch some sound go to Sound Editor, right-click target .wav file -> Replace Internal Sound, then select void.wav from your disk. The beauty of it is that it is only 58 bytes so you can import it as much as you like without size impact. (zip is actually 3x bigger than the file itself lol) Last edited by cohadar : 12-27-2008 at 11:37 AM. |

![]() Why would I want to squelch a sound ?? Like if I don't want it why just decide not to use it right ?

![]() So... you're submitting a silent sample that anyone who uses Windows could generate with that WAV Sampler thing?

![]() Afaik WAV files are universal so they should work for Linux as well...

Because you can't, some sounds are hardcoded into spells or spell effect models. Quote:
LoL why did you not tell me that before I did it manually. Last edited by Rising_Dusk : 12-27-2008 at 03:54 PM. Reason: Double post |

![]() Not for some effects though. It could be useful for me, anyway -- not everyone knows how to use this "WAV sampler"

![]() You know, this is a stupid submission, but brilliant all at the same time. It is in the same vein as those TRUE/FALSE boolexpr things Vex submitted. Very stupid, and should be unnecessary, but is and is valuable as a result.

![]() Though I agree with the others saying this was stupid, I really think it is useful for those who don't know how to make a blank .wav like me.

EDIT: ohh, I think I understand why you used a hex editor, thanks to wikipedia and your link lol. Last edited by chobibo : 12-27-2008 at 05:51 PM. |

I submitted this not because I think it is great submission material but because I needed it and when I asked for it, it was not there. Things like this increase in value when you can post a link to them. It simply feels safer knowing that it is "somewhere out there", so it does not matter if you lose the file, you can always download it again. |

![]() I think if you use a blank file (0 bytes) works too

![]() Well this would be a good attachment in some sound turorial.
