Default Tetris

Tetris Single Player. 3 Can watch

Features:
Levels 1-20
Score System
Game Resets after you lose asking if you would like to play again.
Sound Effects (keep warcraft music on, and warcraft sounds on)

Controls:
The AWSD Keys (and the "C" to drop the block)
These are much faster reacting then the arrow keys.

The Arrow Keys (and the "C" to drop the block)
These you can hold down a key to auto move.

Cameras:
3 different cam angles. Click on one of the three cams to change angle.

Sources:
All sounds came from Tetrinet/Music Came from Tetris (GameBoy)

Note:
I used only the GUI. The map is unprotected. So if your interested in seeing how it works.
Or even to learn from. Or better yet to find a way to improve on it.

1) Fixed Bug that could mess blocks up at start of round.
2) Fixed Cameras for players 2,3,4
3) Added computer player So you wont have to add one to start the game.
4) Fixed Type-o "Would you like to play again.
5) you level up about 40% faster now. Also added 10 levels
At the moment this is as fast as I can get it to go, where it runs smooth on fast to slower computers.
6) Levels are twice as fast.
7) Next block is 20 x faster.
8) changed field to make it easy to till what row. (Most likely be changed again to be
prettier at some point)
9) shows player quit.
10) Block "L" Fixed. Should turn the right way now.
11) Reworked Drop Block

1) You can now Hold Arrow Keys and Block Will Move.
2) There are now three cameras. You type Cam1, Cam2, and Cam3.
3) Computer is locked at start up.
4) Its now random. Before it was a fixed seed.
5) Fixed Bug that causes game to Not Work Right with Drop Block.

My own testing showed. Works on my friends mac, but not all on all macs.

According to one map reviewer on hes mac (Dark.Revenant)

So I noticed the map is named "Beta v.1c.w3x" -- Does that mean it's still in beta or is that just not updated? Also, rather than have D for drop block, would it not make sense to have it just like tetris so that when you hold the down arrow key it drops the block really fast?

If You hold Left Right Up(for Turning) Or Down it will move fast. after 1/3-1/4 sec.

I left it version beta3 because i just changed few things and i want to see what anyone thinks has to be changed to change anything that needs changed.
I See it as 100% done. but i figure there will be a few changes so i wanted to make sure it has had time to be fully tested my the map submission graders.

Okay, a pretty neat implementation, but:

- Credits - specifically the music; if you made it, then it's fine.
- I'd suggest at least having the option of having left/right based on clicks, not holding it down. It'll improve responsiveness, give more control (particularly when speed is important), and generally work better, for me at least. Same with the up command (down can stay as it is).

I'm not a great fan of the terrain either.

arrows and you click to move left click to move right...like spells...thats what you meant right?

k ill get on that. i had considered it before . but i couldn't see people playing tetris by clicking. but
a option never hurt anything.

As For the terrain i cleaned it up a bit.

Also i am considering getting ride of that loading screen. i really like it but. its only up for less then 10 sec. and it takes a bit of room.

Also considering change ing the music to normal tetris music...everyone seems to like that better

From the look of your screen shots, the Green "L" blocks and the yellow "T" blocks look very similar in color. I would change them, personally. Oh, and the Squares.

Fixed Screen Shots.
Got Ride of loading screen.
changed music to standard tetris.

One-Four things left that could be changed...

One:

The spell icons for left and right would look better if i draw a picture of left arrow right arrow.

Two:

3 of The spell icons turn green when going to dialog box's. not sure how to fix.

Three:

I Like how it is now. But some still might not like my updated terrain. I thought it was fine before but its now even better.

Four:

If i can get my friend to redraw up the preview screen i can put a updated version of the preview pic.

Just rotate the burrow icons in Photoshop and then reapply the borders.

I agree, after trying it, I think making all of the blocks different colors would be a nice touch.

In addition, I found that sometimes when I tapped the left or right arrow keys, it moved the block 2 times to the left or right respectively. This is actually what caused me to lose in the end.

Also, I suggest that instead of 'D' for drop, you make it a double tap of the down arrow key.

Thnx for icon help. i am don't got photo shop. so ill either draw some with paint and use this converting program to the right picture type. or hopefully find someone who can do that for me

So you think the preview The small picture looks that bad? I really think its looks fine and doesn't need updated. I got ride of the loading screen.

Change ing all the blocks to different colors you say..only two are the same color thats the odd block and the square. I really don't see a problem with that. The old loading screen showed the yellow and green pieces being close to the same but the current game and current screen shots, i think clearly show green and yellow are different.

About the tap a piece and it moves twice. I don't seem to have that issue but i know what it is. i could make it so you have to hold the key longer before it auto starts to move. it already waits about .25 sec. ill make it take a bit longer.

Last thought i did some more testing. and found it really runs WAY Better when you don't play on bnet or let someone watch when you play. Still not good as i wish. but as fast as warcraft takes input



So ill add icons, fix the green when dialog boxs come up. Figure out if you were talking about the preview screen the one it shows when you click this forum, or if you were talking about my old loading screen. and make it take longer before it auto moves left when you hold a key long.

Ah, the new screenshots look better. But they should still all be different colors, there's some areas that have huge blobs of blue and I can't tell what blocks are there.
EDIT: Are those just lots of blue 4-sticks? Nontheless, all the blocks should be different colors.

Eh Fine!

You have a point. one of the weird blocks is blue and one of them is the long 4. Why they must all be different colors beats me. but i guess then when you look at the tetris field you will have a better idea how it all came together. And it will be more colorful.

Ill Get on this but this is something i sorta hard coded in so its gonna take me a bit.At least i think i did. 98% of the Triggers are the same as about 8 weeks ago.


Ok so fix colors of Blocks/and pictures of Icons and change the time till the piece auto moves left to be a bit longer. then everyone will be happy. :)

I may also lighten the Dark Blue. i keep getting testers telling me that it looks too dark. i think that it looks fine. but i hear it alot.

I think the blue color is fine, personally.

And in regards to tall the blocks being different: I'm assuming you've played Tetris. I've played classic tetris on a black and white screen, and because of that the blocks all had different patterns. So, in this situation, they should all have different colors. It makes sense and it's a lot less confusing, trust me.
I gotta say though, what you've got so far is very nice looking. The colors are crisp (love that word) and the terrain fits well. (It doesn't have to be fancy, really.)

Multiplayer mode would kick ass, but I can understand that the slow response time would screw it up.

Hmm i still could make it muiltplayer. But if you try playing this game even single player online And have someone watch. you should see how much worse the delay is comapared to playing single player not online.

There is a Work Around i hear for this delay but it will require everyone to dl a special attachment program. And i don't really want to do that.

Yeah, that would be bad.

The only alternative I could think of would be making all the left/right/rotate abilities mouse click abilities... but that wouldn't be very tetris-y, would it?
