The file size will only be lower in the imported version. You will not see a difference in the file just sitting there.

Nice tool, is it possible to apply a similar technique to texture and sound data, since it takes up the most space?

Addicts beware: I've become addicted to World Editor because of NewGen.

My story as an addict:

before NewGen: I could barely bear the poor WE functionality for longer than 2 hours at maximum

after NewGen: Wow, I mean this got me completely immersed into editing, so now I'm spending on average over 8 hours a day with world editor, sometimes even doing late night sessions until the sun comes up again. Yeah, right, I couldn't keep up with work on my proper job, can't pay the bills anymore, and who on earth cares about my girlfriend? - I don't, and I don't care. I mean, the creative work done in the WE community in terms of artwork, of new systems and scripting concepts published here is so exciting that I couldn't bother less.

Are portrait models okay for squishing too?

The key to map making is experimentation and testing, try it.

I've heard it's not good on the details, but still, try it.

hey, somewhere i heard that each squish reduces the models size.. i squished the footman(thelowqualityfrommpq) with, a bit of editing, and linearizeing the anims to like 12kb which is pretty sick ^.^ concidering the low quality one is 63 kb
id squish it more, but 12 kb is insignificant, and im sure much smaller would definently lower quality?

So does this mean if I squish for example a unit model which I place to the map with triggers when the game runs it doesn't reduce size at all compared to the scenario I had put these units in world editor and not through triggers???

I don't understand your question, but I think the answer is no.

I think he means, total map size. For example:

1. Open the editor
2. Click on Open Map
3. Move mouse over a map, but don't click. A box should appear and tell you some things like size, date modified, etc...

On my map it is supposed to be like 3300, but with squished models its more like 2400-2600.

Do I need to squish the portraits too? The squished model files don't read their old portraits nor the squished portraits I've imported for them. Do I need to do some kind of magic to have them get their old portraits back?
