I concur with my bro Archean.
But just to give some critism..

The gameflow (?) of the quest "Secure the Area" could be improved.
And perhaps ping the minimap where each orc is located. In it's current state, it's a little boring hunting down the orcs.
You could make it more tense.
Secondly, you have to complete the farm quest first, before the orc quest begins. I suggest to enable the quest when the first orc is spotted and/or killed.

Also you could make a quest for training the soldiers.
Like train 6 additional footman for instance. As with any RTS introduction tutorial :P

Lookin' forward for the next chapter. Be sure to let me know what needs doing.
As I'm not quite sure if I'm still on the team... It's been a while..

It's something we've considered, but I don't think it is something we'll be doing though, unfortunately.

Agree with the footmen-as-quest.
Disagree with the minimap ping, and the tension.
Agree with the quest order problem, will be fixed.

I had a dream a few months ago. The Pope was teaching Pope Class in my dining room. We all had Pope uniforms and we were sitting at my dining room table. I was like the Pope Class Clown. I got in a huge fight with the Pope, and he made me fail a test out of spite so I threw a fit, ran upstairs, threw my Pope robes down the stairs at him, ran into my room, fell on my ass into my laundry basket and cried.
After I woke up I was furious with the Pope for about a week.
Then he died.

I would really like a custom loader for this mod ...
One that switches your "DoC.mpq" and the *Patch.mpq everytime you start it, and switches it back when you close Warcraft I again ... I think even a simple batch file might be able to achieve this ...

We actually do have a batch file that does this. I just didn't include it for this Beta release.

Ah, so you used a custom MPQ.

Which tool did you use to create it/them?

Uh? I thought that could only edit/look at MPQ's... Did you read a tutorial, or trial-and-error?

(sorry for the slightly off-topicry; I'm interested in the workings of that and would like to get my own set up)

If you goto the File Option you can create a new one with MPQ Master. To get it to work, I took the necessary files from the normal War3Patch.mpq and put it together with the DoC files into the new one.

Oh, so like you left some of it the way it was (all the slk's and stuff), then inserted your custom models/icons/etc, with proper file-folder heirarchy (like Units\Orc\Grunt\Grunt.blp)?

Also, you say you used war3xpatch.mpq, instead of war3xlocal.mpq. Any particular reason?
