Default War3 File Unpacker

War3 File Unpacker source
by BlacKDicK.

Please this stuff only for educational purposes.

Small tool used to unpack some of the War3
generated files, including:

War3 Replays (*.w3g)
War3 Save Games (*.w3z)
War3 Game Caches (*.w3v)

This is pretty much a tool to help the research
of those file formats.

Versions:

2.0.0.0 (12/28/2005)
* Rewrote the whole thing using C# 2005. zlib external dll not required anymore.
* Now requires the NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package

1.1.0 (07/02/2003)
* Updated to work with FT and RoC 1.10 or above.

1.0.0 (01/23/2003)
* Initial Release
Attached Files
File Type: rar W3Unpacker.rar (72.2 KB, 153 views)

Could you by any chance add WTG to that list? Thanks If you can.

WTG files are not packed, they have their own format.

I'll bump this thread, because BlacKDicK released a new version today. Don't complain about it using .NET please. It was his decision to use this (great ) developer tool from Microsoft.

Edit:
Incase you guys wonder how to use it:
Just get the W3Unpacker.exe from the W3Unpacker\bin\Release in the archive. I just tested it and it works without the other files which are for debugging purposes anyway.

With a hex-editor.
You'll still need to know the replay/savegame/gamecache format specifications for it to be useful for you.
