based on the error you posted in your first post, it looks like your computer is running out of memory. "Not enough storage is available to process this command".

List the stats of you and your friend's comps please. My bet is you both have 512mb of memory or less.

I am curious as to why anyone would want to have 500 units on the map...

I can understand 2-3 hundred. But half a thousand!!!

For a custom unit, it should only take
4(Base Unit 4CC)+4(New Unit 4CC) + (4(Value Name 4CC)+4(Value Type)+12(TRIGSTR_000 is longest value possible iirc, plus string-terminating NULL)) * NumberOfChanges
per unit, which if there are 100 custom values for each unit (I don't think there are that many you can edit) comes to ~2KB per unit, so 1MB for 500 units. You definitely should not run out of memory with a well-designed editor. Of course, we know WE was an accident and not a design =-P

Yes, we know the out of memory message usually pops up for other reasons. (like for example a corrupted w3u file)

Idea

Sorry for thread revival, but I ran into the exact same problem with the "worldedit121" popup.
As I was able to find the cause in my case I wanted to share!

Regarding number of custom objects...
Well I'm at arround 1.700 at the moment, before the crash I had arround 1.000, after the fix I'm still with 1.700 :D
So, fortunately the amount of custom objects doesn't seem to throw this error in the first hand.

So what did I do?
I had some ability objects which always crashed the editor with said popup when I tried to delete them manually. I tried a lot of things like fixing wrong object fields or setting them completely back to defaults, but nothing helped. What finally did the job was using "Grimex" from JNGP editor with following code inside an empty trigger which gets computed automatically on map saving when line "////! runtextmacro GENERATE_OBJECTS()" is uncommented:
Collapse JASS:
scope GenCustomObjectData

// GENERATE OBJECT DATA BY UNCOMMENTING "////! runtextmacro GENERATE_OBJECTS()" BELOW (TAKES MORE TIME ON SAVING):
// TO AVOID ISSUES BE SURE TO:
// 1. USE LATEST JASS NEW GEN PACK (5d) WITH LATEST JASSHELPER (0.A.2.B)!
// 2. ACTIVATE "Extensions\Enable Local Files"
////! runtextmacro GENERATE_OBJECTS()

//! textmacro GENERATE_OBJECTS
//! externalblock extension=lua ObjectMerger $FILENAME$

//! i function set(field, value)
//! i     makechange(current, field, value)
//! i end

// "upgrades" USE LEVELS FOR SOME FIELDS! THEREFOR USE FOLLOWING FUNCTION:
//! i function setl(field, level, value)
//! i     makechange(current, field, level, value)
//! i end
