Default Simple Loading Screen tutorial

*Loading Screen*
A simple costum loading screen, just import the "LoadScreen.blp".
Demo map attached.

*****How to change the loading image******

First get an Image editing program that can open TGA files.(ex. Photoshop)

Open any blizzard skin in the program, find and c'n'p or draw a new image and save it as "LoadScreen.tga", then convert it to blp.

Then just import the "LoadScreen.mdx" and "LoadScreen.blp" in your map and set the path of the texture to "LoadScreen.blp" (just the delete the "war3mapImported\")
And change the loading screen in the map options.

Note: The Image must be, 256x256, 512x256, 512x512, 1024x1024 or similar in order to work.

Yeah but it uses 4 images not one. This might help some inexperienced mappers. Approved.

Nicey, and it's easier to use 1 image than 4 images, and the size can be smaller.

A good addition to the tutorial would be the following:

How to change the texture path of the model to LoadScreen.tga and how to save your texture as paletted tga.

Shouldn't the file name of the blp be FullScreen.blp?

Please don't take me for a retard but. . . where do I find a blizzard skin to open? I looked all over the warcraft III folder and couldn't find any of the blizzard loading screens anywhere.

Download a program that can extract blizzard skins, there are some in the resource section.

K thanks, but could you explain what you mean by "import the LoadScreen.mdx and LoadScreen.blp in your map" where does the .mdx file come from? When I tried to import a pic for my loading screen I converted it to .tga and then. blp like you said. Then I imported the .blp file into the editor and got stuck. Where do I get the .mdx file to import? The editor didn't create one . . . so I'm confused now as to what to do.

I'm sure Freakazoid has the mdx file in the zip attachment at the first post. If not, there is a different mdx (attached to this post) that can be used when the path of the blp is FullScreen.blp.
