I tried doing something about the purple tint a while ago, and after over an hour of searching, I couldn't find a texture that caused the purple. My best guess is that it's a tinting issue somewhere in the model used for it, or maybe in the coding itself.

But that's just a guess.

If I can find the right model for the interface, I can edit the tinting by converting it from .mdx to .mdl

Useful. You can also do this with virtually anything inside the .mpq files - including the UI, loading bar on loading screen, and anything else you want. I think so, at least. Nothing I've tried so far says anything different.

Default hmm...

Can anyone plz explain how the layer thing is done in Gimp?
I always get an error message 'unsupported compression' when I saved the pic as .tga and want to reopen it with image extractor to convert it to .blp ...

OK, I finally found out how it works in Gimp.
Played around a little and got to that organic bar, what do ya think?

It looks much sharper ingame, lost quality while changeing the format...

I can't open the model editor. a message comes up saying
"Unable to open "C:/Documents and Settings/All Users.WINDOWS/Documen/Warcraft 3 Res/War3ModelEditor/War3.mpq"!

Make sure that Warcraft 3 is installed and that registry key
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Blizzard Entertainment/Warcraft III/InstallPath" exists!

I came to this same discovery about a year ago, and although this doesn't always come out great a good way to find an AWESOME looking XP bar is to just change the file from the basic one to an ability icon, like Dark Portal or Firebolt. Or if you want to change it to a solid color without going out of world edit, just change the file to Textures\Color where Color is whatever you want, not sure to what extent the color list goes to but you might aswell try it.

Indeed this purple looks crappy.
BloodStorm2262, I tried >change the file from the basic one to an ability icon, like Dark Portal or Firebolt< but it still adds the ugly purple color.

Would be awesome if someone finds a way around that purple coloring.

Doing this also changes the bar on summoned units inside the game. However, the color will be different. I got the exp bar purplish with a good texture, and the summoning bar was the same texture but teal, instead.

If what someone here said is true about removing a certain channel to create these colors, I think it's impossible to get certain colors, because.. well... those colors would be unreachable without that channel.
