I think u got mixed up. Photoshop is more professional, but a lot harder to use. It can do pretty much everything PSP can, and a whole lot more. Its just harder to learn and use, but it comes out with much better effects.

Why do u think Blizzard uses Photoshop, when they could use PSP, easy - because its better. Sure, its more expensive, but when u make millions of dollars on a game, a little expensive program doesnt matter.

I havent tried PSP 8, but I still stick by Photoshop.

And for anyone who uses microsoft paint. . . I feel sorry for you. lol.

Photoshop combined with Corel Draw. An unbeatable combination.

I use Photoshop 7.1 for skinning. For simple cut/paste (in other words screenshot compiling) i use Paint Shop Pro.

But I prefer Photoshop :)

Photoshop can do great effects and it have alot of functions.
It's both hard and easy to learn. If you want to make professional skin, then you will need a bit experience with Photoshop. But if you want to make simple skin(for lowpoly model) then its very easy to learn.

The channel system and the layer system for photoshop make it easy to keep control over your work.
The filters is very easy to use, and can add great effects to your work.

Photoshop is never slow on my computer, it take like 4 secs to load. If anyone say that Photoshop take too much time to load, then there is a way to fix that:

BUY A NEW ****ING DAMN FASTER COMPUTER

I use Photoshop for everything. Upgraded from PSP years ago and never looked back (except for that airbrush tool - man that thing is so much cooler than Photoshop's! =).

And I agree with the above - Photoshop is harder to learn, but can do more overall. It's also more expensive.

No, I haven't tried PSP8, but wasn't it mentioned that you can't skin properly with it?

I have downloaded both of these programs, but I just started to learn how to skin a few days ago. So it's my attempt to figure out which program I should use during my learning stages. I also wanted to know just which one the population here used.

if your new go with paintshop till you get better. this isnt all that pointless. it should be used as something for new skinners just learning about it. also paintshop is also cheaper for people wher money is an issue.

PS. i use paintshop
