Well, if you tint them, the base of the tree also turns green... that's not rly what you'd want.

Lol, just fixed it: delete the two .blp files from your imported files, go to C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Downloaded Doodads\high res doodadpack\needletree\Evergreen (That's my path), then rename ashenvale_needletree_canopy2.blp to ashenvale_needletree_canopy.blp, then reimport both files
