![]() Overview: The Dungeon Master MOD (DM MOD) is a Warcraft III Modification (or add-on) that allows you to create a unique story and play it as the Dungeon Master (in D&D terms). This means that you will be the director of the game, make up the story, the gameplay, and the rules. The DM (Dungeon Master) controls all aspects of the game except for the other players, like creating units or items, changing music, creating weather effects, or taking control of NPCs. All is driven through a dialog button interface or through quick commands, as you wish. Simply apply the mod to your own terrain/object data, play with the settings, and you're good to go! You should download to see what is it about. This is not an action type mod, it's a complex mod that requires planning, coordination and patience. It includes a good bunch of manuals that if you plan on play it usually, I recommend you to print the main ones. Practice is the secret of this mod, so I also recommend you to play it alone (setting CPU as a player) and practice with it a lot. Once you are used to it, you can do WHATEVER you want in a story, it brings you the power of a story director for a role-play game with your friends. Please note, however, that this is a very old project, and I am sure it is not up to today’s standards. However I only hope that it can help someone in their DM endeavors. (There are some known bugs with TFT maps, I apologize however this was not designed for TFT. The engine itself should be useable, however.) Includes:
Modding or editing the files included in the pack of the DM MOD in order to be redistributed is not permitted. You are free to edit them for your personal project, but do not redistribute your own version without my agreement. (Regardless if you credit me) I released it open source, in JASS form, so that others can see how I made the DM MOD and learn, do not abuse this freedom. Screenshots: Download: Make sure to run Setup.bat in the NeededControls folder of this zip before doing anything else! DM-MOD.zip Have fun, DM and players alike! - mikititan |

![]() Testing the Dungeon Master Mod was an interesting experience; the unprecedented amount control you have over the game means that you will still be discovering new things to do long after you thought you had found everything. Building your own RPG game in real time, responding to unusual things your friends (or victims) might do, all to create an involving and unique experience everytime you play.
__________________The control system took a while to pick up, and even longer to become fluent with. It is generally no trouble to figure out what to do, but the large array of options becomes the maps own enemy here, where menu after menu bombards you with choices. Once you become familiar with the system, navigation is fairly easy, but it is still difficult to do many different things in a short space of time. Some kind of 'Repeat last action' option would have been a welcome addition. The 'pointer unit' you were supposed to use to indicate where objects should be placed also seemed to behave a little oddly at times. While the actual creation of units and the like was not always entertaining, the process of designing your own world for others to play in is most engaging. The quest system was quite suitable for custom quests, yet still allowed some basic ready-made ones to get the game going quickly. Continual nuetral creep spawning was also an option, ensuring that the game did not come to a stand still while the Dungeon Master was off creating other objects or quests for them to complete. Overall, the Dungeon Master Mod is a well made system with capabilities beyond those of any other system I have ever seen. I fully recomend it for those who enjoy basic 'game' design or just for playing around with some friends (the interaction between game designer and players should be quite interesting), although I recomend that you practice a bit on your own before attempting to take on the Dungeon Master role, for the sake of the other players :). |

![]() I can't run it which makes me really mad. It keeps saying that the program is in use by another application.

![]() Make sure to unzip all the files before running the .exe. Also after unzipping try rebooting.

![]() You need to apply the mod to the map files via the DM MOD program. Read the Readme.txt files.

![]() If you're experiencing troubles with the ocx file, read on.
Place this file in your windows/system32. And it should work. Quote:
With that said, the map owns. Last edited by Travinkel : 06-07-2006 at 07:48 PM. |

![]() I remember playing this waaaay back in the day, and decided to play it just recently
All I can say is that i'm having a lot of fun with it. It's good to have an occasional "Ultra Serious" game once in a while, but I love to just mess around with the different options. |
