Exactly. I must agree with erwt.

It does look like you didn't really draw to begin with. But instead you "textured" each part every step of the way to end up with this current result.

Perhaps that's got something to do with that you're better at texturing stuff than drawing, as you said yourself.

Regardless! By all means, please do continue working on this piece :)

Good idea changing the angle of the axe. Are you going to add the second axe blade on the lower part of the shaft?

The pants are very boring at the momment. Perhaps you should try to make parts of it look like as if was torn to pieces.
Or signs of former struggle, battles, traveling. I wanna see his knees. Or perhaps add knee pads?

The muscles still annoy me, though. I think you can do it better than that :)

EDIT: Oh, and the forearm is much better now :)

His lower body appears to have no depth at all and it looks like he's standing on air, not the ground. Those are the things that stick out the most to me currently.

That is really good. But you need to make his boots/feet bigger. Also that Orc in the background needs some work.. He looks odd. The "indent" in between his nose and top lip looks a bit too defined.

I really hate to say this, but he *still* looks too passive.

its all in his stance. the details are perfect, the texture is beautiful, but the way he's standing isn't interesting enough... at the moment it looks like he's giving a speech about new taxes on armor and weapons rather than roaring in victory with beastial fury. try and overexaggerate his stance a bit.

look at samwise's art or search for pics on Gettyimages, or if that doesn't work, try google.

once again, i don't like to crit you on this, because the texturing is simply beautiful.

His body isnt yelling.

Heres some examples of screaming orcs:
http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/viewer...warcraft&art=1
http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/viewer...arcraft&art=37
http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/viewer...rcraft&art=143

Just notice how the entire body is involved in the action. Try yelling yourself and observe what your body is doing. Muscles contract, you get a more cramped, more powerfill stance. Your image doesnt reflect that.

If you look at the sketch, you can tell that I added the yelling facial features on at the last second. I'll try to emphasize that in the next version.

Thanks for the links, that helps a lot.

The problem I distinguish is that his pose is too static. Mainly the legs, they should be somewhat bent.
Samwise's Hellscream is closest to your composition, notice how he crouches a tiny bit.

I'll see if I can change it a bit; looks alright to me though

Quick alteration of the sketch. Does the whole drawing need to be redone or can it be fixed with a few tweaks?
