This is an exercise in creating good lighting in your terrain. Please don't overuse light doodads or ninja monkeys will attack you at night. Also, try creating a focal point (easy with the light). It really helps make terrain eye-catching. (Shameless plug: Most of my later terrains have this!)

CGTalk's shots would be VERY DIFFERENT with different lighting. The light creates either a focal point or negative space, drawing you to (hopefully) the important parts and gives your eye a place to rest. Yep, terraining is an art. All of you are artists.

Hmm, I guess I will go for something crazy this time :P Probably going to make some forest, mountain, and large lighting... or maybe lightNing? There you have it, spoilers.

Actually, I quite like the color variance as you move up the canvas.

It'd be cooler if they were buildings, but it's still quite good, actually.

I thought the same at first glance, actually. I actually think it might even look better if you replace those rock pillars with some city buildings. Even so, as is, it looks pretty good. Try to use Lordaeron rain instead of Ashenvale, I found it usually looks better. Also try adding a light fog.

Well, this is one I did a while ago, but I will probably come up with something new for this week.

It's actually one. Terrains made before don't count! Come on guys, where are all these purported terrains that you said you'd do? :(

I am submitting a terrain for the following reasons:
  • It's about time I do, although I got sick of it by the end.
  • I wanted to do another two-dominant-colors terrain similar to my Garden.
  • I owe 2-P a terrain.
  • There needs to be more entries.
  • Hive contest.

Here's a peaceful morning in some mountains.

That's quite nice, the mountain in the background is lookin good
The overall terrain is pretty generic but it's done very nicely, especially the light.

Nice! Now if only you used a custom DayLight model it would be so sexy.

Oh and: make the trees near the sun darker colored.
