Fall Update
|
Yes, we know many of you have been anticipating the upcoming release of our beta. Yes, we know we have promised you a summer release and we have, unfortunately, continued to be delayed. However, as many of you have requested for an update, the only announcement we can publicly state at the moment is that we are at a further delay. Let me tell you why.
Up until the start of fall, the Snowflake team has been hard at work finalizing the Terran build. Our team coordination was at the highest it has been for a while. For a couple of months, we achieved many optimum fixes on our build and strived to make the mod as close to the game as possible. Unfortunately, minor issues cannot be fixed (due to the limits of the Wc3 Engine) and that has proved an obstacle for us for a few weeks as we worked on and over for alternate solutions.
Onto development, yes, we are at another delay, unfortunately. As much as it may outrage some or may seem as an excuse to others, I don't know how to say to some, but the fall semester has taken a toll on our work. One week we were enthusiastic and busy on finalizing bugs. All of a sudden, school started again and our channel was empty. Now I'd like to remind everyone on behalf of the team that this is a non-profit organization (not as an excuse) but to state that we are not a bunch of employees working in a cubicle but rather across the country and world even. Once someone goes AWOL, it is almost impossible to get in contact with him (which I'll admit is why we sometimes go idle)
Now here's the hard part. I'd like to request from each one of the still, ever-patient fans to allow us to continue this without an estimate time. As of now, we are on delay and still trying to pick up on what's left.
-Jun
*In regards to my october release post, that was my optimism of getting the crew back together to release the mod. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful but you can see that our inability to release the mod at this point is irrelevant to the case of those who say "we have nothing to release".

Hey Jun, I'm the guy with whom you had something to argue on ModDB, the one who were used to criticize the attitude of all the team...
I'm not here to complain today, your last post really impressed me... this is how a professianl team works... shit happens, and you finally faced it professionally! I'm not disappointed (well, I'd appreciate playing around with PR, of course) because your post proved that the time is working hard and trying to give a good product to the community using all of your spare time!
I'm proud to be the first to contratulate with you and the rest of the team: now I'm sure PR will eventually see the light, before or later!
So, thank you and keep on the good work,
PoianaNana

good to have an update, too bad about the delay, but assuming the end product is good I don't mind the wait.

You ALL should of listened to PRX. They were RIGHT ALL Along. Thank you jun for being honest and manning up. The rest of the team should do so as well. It satisfys me more to hear this then to hear another empty promiss.

Its like waiting for a real Blizzard game to come out. It never does, but when it actually does, it's a thing of pure perfection. Keep up the hard work guys

What did PRX say? Last time I checked, he released our shit which killed team morale. That your sense of what's right?

K... I owe an apology. It's my fault if Vegetta's being an ass right now. Please stop. PR:X is a thing of the past, for good reason too.
Just quit with the hate...
Edit: Thank you Jun for the new's update. It helps.

i think better idea for you, jun, will be release of ingame video, something like leaked video of the last year in 40 minutes on ytube
and its really interesting.. about what limits in war3 you said which are the problem, maybe somobody will help with this
i only head about max units problem, but i dont think it is the main.

Thanks JUN, Just to let you know, I don't even mind when you make a release date announcement and break it. I don't want to hold you to promises that can't be fulfilled even if others could argue that you should be held to them. I think this post is awesome because it answers my questions and lets me know what's going on.
I think it's just when we hear there is going to be a release and silence is what follows instead is what makes it hard to keep my morale up.(You know makes me wonder if I'm posting for a reason.)keep in mind I still know you have no debt to us. But it does leave me wondering.
So what is the issue? I could imagine you might be having a hard time with the possibility of blocking damage if a doodad is in the way. Just so you know I could easily help.(I know I could get that code working easy and efficient.) and it would work for the uphill advantage too.
Any other help just let me know.
(I might repost this in help wanted section just to ask what still needs doing.)
And I think I can speak for everyone when I say that if the game only supports 2-4 players or something because of the problem war3 seems to have on handling large amounts of units we would be fine with that.(we know war3 sucks at that)

One question. Is the demo just delayed indefinetly? Or canceled all together?

Thanks for the update, Im sure everyone appreciates it.
Its obvious fall semester takes up time with groups like this. But still I(and Im sure many other fans) are looking forward to maybe a Terran build and in the end a PR with all the races.
Keep up the good work.
