I'd argue that you messed up the rest of the puzzle, but hey, that's me.

Well, if you look (and if the directions for this puzzle that I got off of the Internet are correct) the 4 and the 8 are the only two numbers that are missing from the rows, columns, and boxes that include those two blank spaces. If you put a four in the top of the left blank and an eight in the top of the right blank, and do the same in reverse for the bottoms of the blanks, I think that will solve the problem.

it's not unsolvable, it just has two valid solutions. This one is probably generated by an algorithm that's not programmed to make sure there's only a single solution.

He means it's unsolvable because there's no way to know precisely which number goes in the top-left box: an 8 or a 4. As either could plausibly go there, there is no definite solution to this one. I'd just flip a coin, place the winner in the top-left box, fill out the rest, then move on.

Whatever works works. Sudoku.. The great mind enhancer. I have it on my PS3. Demo, of course.

Su Doku

The rules for a Sudoku puzzle are quite simple:

You have 9 boxes, each fitting 9 numbers from 1-9 each.

In each column, row, and box of a sudoku puzzle, you will find the numbers 1 through 9, and there cannot be more than 1 instance of any single number in a column, row, or box.

You solve the puzzle using logic, and figure out which box contains what number- or the opposite, figure out which box couldn't possibly contain any other number given the rules.

The puzzle posted in this thread is an exception- had it only had 1 solution, one of those 4 empty slots would already have contained a number from the beginning.

man, I can only imagine what a pain it must be to play sudoku with a PS3 controler.
How do you enter numbers? The same way you enter names in final fantasy??

If they were any kind of intelligent (HAHAHA! yeah right.. Sony, intelligent? lol..) they'd have it so that the R/L buttons scroll through the numbers/erase. But again, like I said..
