FIXES

- Fixed a client crash related to queuing too many invalid build commands
  ("crash hack").
Nothing exciting, but apparently some awful bug was fixed. Hooray.

Project News: Power of Corruption Completed!

POWER OF CORRUPTION

Power of Corruption is an altered melee game where the Naga and Demons fight intense battles with interesting spells in order to gain supremacy over the other. Features many new and fun heroes with a plethora of phenomenal art made just for it!

I wanted to make an announcement to let everyone know that Power of Corruption, better known as PoC, has achieved completed project status! In case you haven't noticed, it now has an icon at the bottom of the main forum page with the rest of the completed projects. Its forum is no longer visible in the Hosted Project section, but is now available by clicking on the image in the completed project section. You can still comment on the map and offer suggestions in its forum. Download the map here and post some feedback while you're at it. I'd like to personally congratulate Moyack and his team on getting it to this state! Well done!

Patch 1.24c is live!

FIXES

- Fixed a problem with the "Chapter Six: The Culling" human campaign map
that was preventing it from loading.
- Fixed an issue that allowed JASS functions to return incorrect values
under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue that caused the TriggerEvaluate native to return
incorrect values under certain conditions.
- Fixed a minor memory leak when using GroupEnum natives.
- Fixed a crash when using the CreateImage native on PPC Mac.
- Updated Mac World Editor to work with recent JASS changes. 
Much to the dismay of all the ladder players, it's another small bugfix-only patch. Oh, and it breaks compatibility with old replays as well. Enjoy.

ITEM INTERACTION


We've had enough hero contests at this point that I don't have to link to them all when creating a new contest. If you remember from those, the main point was to replicate the design of a melee hero. In this fourth hero contest, we're loosening the grip of the melee stronghold and kicking it up a notch. All heroes are required to interact with an item of the team's creation. I'm hoping to see some real creativity here, since there are nigh infinite options for what you can do! Stop by the threads and either join in the contest or support those who do! Your opinion counts, as it always does, so let's see some community involvement!

Project News: Tropical Tag 4.0 Released!

TROPICAL TAG

Tropical Tag is a tag game that seeks to set a new standard for the genre. Tropical Tag adds many new dynamics not found in any other tags and eliminates a plethora of problems found in almost all others. This map has been worked on extensively by a number of people since November 2005. Tropical Tag is a variation of Sheep Tag where the basic hunters kill prey concept is maintained. The improvements exist in the variety of things that the Fish and Naga are able to do or build. The different environments, game modes, and reduction of gameplay mechanic abuse makes Tropical Tag more complex then Sheep Tag and allows it to keep its lasting appeal.

After the crippling 1.24 patch breaking this "Completed" hosted project, Karawasa gave permission to ShadowDestroyer to work on Tropical Tag and make it work again. Finally, Tropical Tag's 4.0 has been finished and the map works on the 1.24b patch! The update provides a new multi-jail system and adds a lot of needed polish and balancing. You can check out the map here. Don't be afraid to post comments and suggestions for the map. Give ShadowDestroyer some love for his work to make this thing happen!

Code Section Cleanup

I have gone through the code systems resource section of the database and cleaned out a lot of the stuff in there based on the following:
  • If it did not meet minimum submission criteria for our present day and age, I moved it to the Samples forum. The following list details what I considered the "bare minimum":
    • Code in the first post.
    • Links to all required libraries by the system.
    • Documentation for the system being located within the library itself and not externally.
  • If it did not compile in the 1.24b patch, I have sent it indiscriminately to the graveyard.
If your resources were affected by this section purging, you are free to update them to the minimum criteria listed above and send me a PM and I will move them back to the systems section. There were a few exceptions to this rule that I left around the systems section on principle of being so important and well-known that moving them might cause people to think they are gone. Those exceptions are listed below:
  • The Caster System
  • The Cinematic System
  • Optimal Save System
I strongly urge the makers of those systems to update their first posts to actually meet the requirements of the section. If the authors of those systems don't want them in systems anymore (such as the CS' being deprecated by xe), they are free to PM me and I will move them to the graveyard. (Or in the case of admins, they can do it themselves)

I will eventually be doing this with the map database and the vJASS spell sections as well. For the vJASS spell section, minimum requirements will be the same as listed above. For the maps section, I will be requiring that they operate on 1.24b, otherwise they will be automatically graveyarded.
